Editorial Policy

Our mission

Caspenda exists to help people see what time can do to their money. We build transparent financial calculators and plain-English guides around compounding, dollar-cost averaging, retirement, FIRE, inflation and investment fees.

Traffic and advertising revenue are goals, but they never come before accuracy, usefulness or trust. If a page can’t be both genuinely useful and accurate, we don’t publish it.

What you will find here

• Calculators — each one shows its formula and assumptions. You can change every assumption; nothing is hidden.
• Guides — financial concepts explained with worked numbers you can check on our calculators.
• Comparisons — approaches compared honestly (DCA vs lump sum, simple vs compound, fee levels), with trade-offs stated rather than one side declared “the best.”

What we don’t do

• No individual stock, ETF or fund recommendations.
• No personalized financial advice. We explain ideas and let you decide.
• No guaranteed returns, “risk-free” claims or get-rich-quick framing.
• No fear-based messaging or pressure tactics.

Every projection on this site is a hypothetical illustration of a stated assumption — never a promise of future performance.

Accuracy standards

• Every number on Caspenda must be reproducible from the assumptions shown on the page.
• Formulas are public — see Methodology for the exact math behind every calculator.
• Calculators are tested before release — see How We Test Our Calculators.
• Calculations run in your browser. Inputs are never sent to a server or stored.

Sources

Finance is a Your Money or Your Life topic, so we hold factual claims to a higher standard:

• We prefer primary sources: U.S. government data (BLS, Federal Reserve, SEC, IRS), fund issuer documents, and original academic research.
• Each factual claim in our guides is traced to a source. If a figure cannot be verified, we omit it rather than invent it.
• The full list of sources we rely on is on our Data Sources page.

Timeliness

Time-sensitive figures (tax rules, contribution limits, fee averages, withdrawal research) are dated with the year they apply to, and every page shows when it was last reviewed or updated.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email [email protected]. We correct factual or calculation errors promptly and note the correction on the page.

Advertising and independence

If advertising appears on Caspenda, it will never influence what we publish or where calculators sit. We will not place misleading text near ads, dress ads up as tools, or interrupt a calculation with advertising. Useful content always comes first.
